A common question we get from customers is, “What size storage unit do I need?”. It can be difficult to recommend a specific size as we don’t know exactly what you need to store and space needed highly depends on how your items are packed. We’ve put together some insights that may help guide you.
5×10 Storage Unit: This is typically one of the smallest units you can rent and great if you are looking to store boxes or totes and a small amount of furniture. A good visualization is this size unit is equivalent to a walk-in closet.
10×10 Storage Unit: Equivalent to a small bedroom in your house, this size unit is great if you are looking to store contents from a 1 bedroom apartment.
10×15 Storage Unit: Equivalent to a large bedroom in your house, this size is typically good for someone looking to store a 2 bedroom apartment. This can also be a great option for someone looking to store a motorcycle or ATV.
10×20 Storage Unit: Equivalent to a single stall garage, this is typically the minimum size unit to store a car and great for storing large furniture and household items.
Boat Storage: To determine the size unit you need for your boat make sure you know the full length of the boat including the motor, if an outboard, and the tongue of a trailer. A 16′ boat may need a 10×20 unit to ensure the trailer can fit easily if the tongue isn’t collapsible. When inquiring about boat storage it’s important to ask about turning radius in the aisle of the unit. Some aisles can be too narrow to back a boat into. Better to bring this up ahead of time so we can find an appropriate unit for you. Some units also have power to plug your trickle charger into and ensure you battery is ready for your next trip.
